Stereotype of gender

Media that is stereotypically generated, shows children a narrow view of who they are and what they can be. (Girls must be princess/Boys must be superheroes)
(The Media plays a role in reinforcing and perpetuating the gender )

The effects on children of gendered media:

-girls’ focus on their appearance and value as sexual objects.

-more tolerant views of sexual harassment(性骚扰).

-the establishment of gender behaviours in romantic and sexual relationships.

-risker behaviour(boys)

-career choices limited by gender norms.

Regulation:

In June 2019 the Advertising Standard Authority introduced new rules governing gender stereotyping in advertising . ~banned~

Dominant ideology——A set of values and belief that are held by the majority of a society 

*Dominant--> main message, main belief-(stereotype)

*Subvert(颠覆)-->If it’s challenging the dominant ideology
