IMAX Technology

IMAX is famous for MASSIVE SCREEN and its technology, IMAX technology combines a variety of technological innovations: special cameras, special projectors, wide screens, specially-designed theatres with comfortable raked seating, and films shot on 65mm negative stock.

Screen:

IMAX screens
( 20m x 26m)can be up to eight stories high. Because these screens fill your peripheral vision, you have the sense of being right in the action. When I was watching <Joker> in the IMAX cinema, the big screen provided me an extrodinary experience that I can enjoy the colours, details and lots of information that the director and filming team offered.

Projector:

It features the most advanced projector ever built using Imax's patented Rolling Loop technology. Each frame is positioned on fixed registration pins; the film is held firmly against the rear element of the lens by a vacuum. A 68 per cent shutter transmits one third more light than a conventional 50 per cent shutter.

Digital Sound System:

IMAX theatres feature a patented digital audio technology with advanced circuits designed specifically to enhance sound clarity and depth of sound reproduction. IMAX sound also uses proprietary signal processing, amplification and loudspeaker design. From my watching experience, I can hear the perfectly tuned sound and the accuracy of the sound. Which lead me in the scene effectively.

Theatre design:

Large-format films are shown in specially-designed theatres where the seating decks are steeply raked, so that even a child's view is unobstructed and people can look up and down, as in real life. Therefore, the idea and mood of the story of <Joker> is well conveyed.

There are 88 films shot with Imax Camera (e.g Apollo 13 etc.) by 2016. However, before 2018 no full-length feature film was shot entirely using IMAX cameras due to the numerous difficulties presented with the format – the cameras were much larger and heavier than standard cameras and the noise they produced made dialogue recording difficult.The Dark Knight features six sequences (a total of 28 minutes) shot using IMAX. According to the film's press notes, this was the "first time ever that a major feature film has been even partially shot using IMAX cameras".

Warner Bros. Partnership

In 2015, Imax corp. and Warner Bros reached an agreement to release 30 films over the next five years continuing the companies' 10-year partnership. Imax released movies including Batman v Superman etc.
